Ways to Love Yourself More

Self-love is a difficult and lifelong journey. You may spend your whole life learning to love yourself and that’s okay. Finding ways to be good to yourself and your wellbeing is a great start. We’ve compiled a list of 10 things to try when you feel your inner self being down on you. Remember, it’s all about the effort and the fact that you started at all.

  1. Start taking better care of your body

Try being better about moving your body and fueling it with nutritious food. Your body needs to be properly taken care of and loved, too.

  1. Sift through who you follow online

Is there an influencer or someone you know who makes you feel when you see their content on social media? Go through who you’re following and unfollow anyone that makes you feel negative about yourself.

  1. Don’t neglect your passions

Remember to do what you love. Try implementing your hobbies into your daily routine. Making time for the things you love will fulfill your sense of purpose and simply make you happier. It’s good to keep creating, even if it isn’t for school or work.

  1. Create positive affirmations

Print out a pretty graphic of some positive affirmations or make your own and hang them up somewhere for you to see and be reminded of every day. Some affirmations to positively start your day are:

I choose to be happy and to love myself today.

My possibilities are endless.

Today is going to be a wonderful day.

I am talented.

I am intelligent.

I am proud of myself.

I believe in myself.

I will not worry about things I cannot control.

I am grateful for all that I have.

I will be kind to myself and others today.

  1. Recognize the things that make you happy

Much like taking time to live out our passions, reflect and recognize the things and activities that make you happy. If they are positive to yourself and your wellbeing, surround yourself with them.

  1. Take time to relax
  2. Say “no” when needed

We wrote a whole article dedicated to this one. Read it here.

  1. Forgive yourself

We can be so hard on ourselves. One step to self-love is to forgive yourself. You can’t change the past. You can’t control every situation. Be easy on yourself.

  1. Discover yourself

Fall in love with learning about yourself. You have so many hidden talents and passions and pieces of yourself that you haven’t even discovered yet. Never doubt yourself and your abilities.

  1. Share love with others

When you’re practicing self-love, it’s important to share the love, too. Not only does it make others feel good, but it’ll make you feel good as well.

You all are amazing and beautifully unique, but we know all too well that we are our own harshest critic. Go easy on yourself and find the things to celebrate instead of pick on. Don’t forget to also spread the love, others need it just as much as you do.

Cry Baby

  • is very important! At the end of last year, I really thought about who I wanted to know going into the new decade. It definitely made me realize that I cannot make everyone happy, so I should be focusing on me first. I ended up cutting out a lot of people who have hurt me and I no longer wanted to know about. Doing so has given me peace of mind, and now I only go on social media to connect with people I truly enjoy being around.
  • I love this. I think I’m going to try hanging positive affirmations on my wall to start each day with a good head space!!! :’)
